AVROM TSIMERMAN

AVROM TSIMERMAN (b. ca. 1894)

            He came from Lublin, Poland.  He graduated from a Russian high school.  After WWI, he worked as a teacher of Yiddish in the town of Koriv (Kurów).  He contributed work to Lublin’s Togblat (Daily newspaper).  He translated Alexander Pushkin’s “Der kuperner rayter” (The bronze horseman [original: Mednyy vsadnik, Peterburgskaya povest' (The bronze horseman, a Petersburg tale)]) and other works.  His translations in book form include: V. V. Veresaev, A vide fun a doktor (A confession of a doctor [original: Zapiski vracha (Memoirs of a physician)] (Warsaw: Goldfarb, 1925), 343 pp.; D. H. Lawrence, Der gelibter fun leydy tshaterley (Lady Chatterley’s Lover) (Warsaw: Jewish Universal Library, 1939), 479 pp.  In the 1930s he was a proofreader in Sh. Shaynberg’s publishing house “Jewish Universal Library.”  He was also active in the Bundist movement.  Further information is unavailable.
