YANKEV LEFKOVITSH

YANKEV LEFKOVITSH (September 1, 1882-December 2, 1910)
            He was born in Pyetrikov, Lodz district, Poland.  Over the years 1900-1906, he studied philosophy and philology at Berne University.  Together with Dr. Y. Zalkind, he led Zionist activities among Jewish student groups in Switzerland.  For a time he lived in Paris, later settling in Warsaw.  He published articles in Haynt (Today) in Warsaw, in Di velt (The world) in Vienna, and elsewhere.  In book form he published: Salomea (Salomé), a drama in three acts (Pyetrikov, 1900), 80 pp.  He died in Warsaw.
