YEKHIEL
ZAKS (b. May 5, 1916)
He was born in Shavel (Šiauliai), Lithuania. He studied in religious primary school and
secular subjects privately. He departed
for South Africa, later returning to Lithuania where he survived the Nazi
occupation. After WWII he contributed to
Revisionist party organs, later to Unzer
veg (Our way), organ of Holocaust survivors in Munich. In 1946 he served on the editorial board of
this same re-organized organ and was a member of the Jewish writers’ union in
Munich. He later returned to South
Africa again and was living in Johannesburg.
