AVROM
ZAYD (b. 1890)
He was born in the town of Makhnovka
(Makhnivka), Kiev district, Ukraine. He
moved with his parents in 1904 to Argentina and settled in the YIKO (Jewish Cultural
Organization) colony of Monigotes in the province of Santa Fe. Over the course of forty years, he went
through various phases of Jewish colonization in Argentina. He published in Argentinian newspapers,
principally Di prese (The press) in
Buenos Aires, stories and impressions, mostly from the lives of Jewish
colonists. He also published a booklet
of stories, Di khaverte (The
girlfriend) (Buenos Aires, 1935), 30 pp.
