MORIS
ZILBERMAN (b. 1881)
He was born in Felshtin, Podolia
district, Ukraine. He studied in
religious primary school and in synagogue study hall. At eighteen he moved to Odessa where he
graduated from the sixth class of high school as an external student. In 1903 he moved to the United States,
continued his education there, and in 1911 graduated as a medical doctor. That same year, the Hebrew Publishing Company
in New York brought out a volume of stories by Gabriele D’Annunzio in Zilberman’s
Yiddish translation (248 pp.). He also
penned the plays: Sheyne khaloymes
(Beautiful dreams), staged in Boston in 1924; Der freylekher student (The happy student) (1925); and Der letster moment (The last moment)
(1926). He died in Boston.
