YANKEV RABINOVITSH (December 10, 1875-April 4, 1948)
He was a
Hebrew writer and author of a series of books in various genres, born in
Volkovisk (Wołkowysk), Grodno region. From 1910 he was living in the land of
Israel. He wrote from time to time in
Yiddish for Idisher kemfer (Jewish
fighter) under the pen names Tsiyoni Proletari and Tsiyoni Poshet. In Yiddish he only published Zionist
booklets: Vu iz unzer oylem? A erenst
vort tsum folk (Where is our audience? A serious word to the people) (Berdichev:
Ezra, 1899), 13 pp., using the pen name Rav Yud; Teritoryalizm oder tsienizm (Territorialism or Zionism) (Cracow,
1904), 21 pp.; Erets-yisroel oder Uganda
(The land of Israel or Uganda) (Vilna, 1904), 61 pp.; Dos idishe element in erets-yisroel, nokh farshidene kvelen (The
Jewish element in the land of Israel, following various sources) (Odessa: Palestina,
1905/1906), 36 pp., using the pen name Tsiyoni Poshet; Farvos erets-yisroel? (Why the land of Israel?) (Odessa:
Tsienistishe kopike biblyotek, 1908), 15 pp.
He died in Tel Aviv.
