A. MARGOLIS (1876-1929)
He hailed from Pinsk district,
Polesia. In 1902 he arrived in the
United States, lived for a time in New York, engaged in various trades, while
at the same time continuing his education.
In 1920 he graduated from the medical school of New York University and settled
in Newark where he practiced as a doctor.
He was active in Jewish cultural societies near Newark, Paterson, and
other towns in New Jersey. He published
stories in Forverts (Forward) and Fraye arbeter-shtime (Free voice of
labor) in New York and in the Yiddish publications out of New Jersey: Der shtern (The star) and Der morgenshtern (The Morningstar). He was a regular contributor to Dr. K.
Forenberg’s Di yidishe shtime (The
Jewish voice) and Der morgenshtern
(1922-1929). He died in Newark
