YISROEL ROZENTAL


YISROEL ROZENTAL (1888-March 1940)
            He was born in Vendzegole (Vandžiogala), Lithuania.  He studied in the Volozhin Yeshiva.  After WWI he served as rabbi in Vandžiogala and from 1926 as rabbi and rabbinical judge in Kovno.  He was one of the leaders of Mizrachi in Lithuania.  He wrote on religious and Zionist issues in Idishe shtime (Jewish voice) in Kovno and Mizrachi’s Dos idishe vort (The Jewish word), for which he was one of the principal contributors.  He died in Kovno.
