TUVYE YAKUBOVITSH

TUVYE YAKUBOVITSH (ca. 1903-1942)
He was born in Shedlets (Siedlce), Poland.  He studied in religious primary school, yeshiva, and with private tutors.  He was active in the youth organization of “Tseire agudat yisrael” (Agudat Yisrael youth) in Shedlets.  From 1921 he was writing articles for the Aguda publications: Beys yankev (Beys Yankev) in Lodz; Der tsoir (The youth) in Konstantin (new Lodz); and Unzer veg (Our way) in Shedlets, for which he served as editor, 1924-1930.  He carried on a polemic with the Shedletser vokhnblat (Shedlets weekly newspaper) which effected a ban on this weekly on the part of the Shedlets rabbinate.  He died in the Shedlets ghetto under the Nazis.
