YITSKHOK
(ITSHE) LILYENSHTEYN (1905-summer 1942)
He was the brother of Yisroel
Lilyenshteyn, born in Warsaw, Poland. He
graduated from a Jewish public school.
He was a well-known violinist in Warsaw between the two world wars. For a time he was active in the Bund. He published feature pieces and humorous sketches
in: Folkstsaytung (People’s
newspaper) from 1923, Unzer ekspres
(Our express), Radyo (Radio), and Hayntike nayes (Contemporary news) in
Warsaw, as well as in the provincial press in Poland. He was confined in the Warsaw Ghetto, from
which he was deported to Treblinka and there murdered.
