SHLOYME
BELSKI (1890-June 28, 1972)
He was born in Nova-yelna, Grodno
district. In 1904 he emigrated to New
York, and in 1921 settled in Los Angeles.
He was active in leftist circles.
He debuted in print in 1916 with a poem in Fraye arbeter shtime (Free voice of labor). He wrote poetry for the California
periodicals: Mayrev (West), Zunland (Land of sun), Baym pasifik (By the Pacific), and Der bekher (The cup). He also published in Frayhayt (Freedom) and Morgn
frayhayt (Morning freedom) in New York.
He died in Los Angeles.
