SHLOYME BAKHRAKH

SHLOYME BAKHRAKH (September 25, 1906-May 16, 1985)
           He was born in Proshnits (Przasnysz), Poland.  He was a journalist.  He studied in a Tarbut school in Warsaw, later in a local commercial school.  In 1930 he emigrated from Warsaw to Chile.  From 1965 he was living in Israel.  He wrote for the weekly newspaper Dos yidishe vort (The Jewish word) in Santiago and was a regular correspondent for Di yidishe tsaytung (The Jewish newspaper) and Di prese (The press) in Buenos Aires, Letste nayes (Latest news) in Tel Aviv, Unzer vort (Our word) in Paris, and Der veg (The way) in Mexico City, among others.  He was editor of Yizker-bukh proshnits (Memorial volume for Przasnysz) (Tel Aviv, 1974).  He died in Tel Aviv.
