DOVID-LEYZER GOLD

DOVID-LEYZER GOLD (b. June 20, 1945)
            He was born in New York.  He studied linguistics and Romance languages at several universities.  He served as style editor of Yugntruf (Appeal to youth), 1968-1971; there as well as in Yidishe shprakh (Yiddish language) in New York., he published articles on Yiddish.  He was a teacher of Yiddish at Columbia University.  He contributed to the Yiddish Language and Cultural Atlas.  From 1975 he was living in Israel.  He was director of the lexicographic center for Jewish languages at Haifa University.  He brought out a textbook for Yiddish in English (1973, 1976, two parts).
