MATES GAL

MATES GAL (1907-April 22, 1983)
            He was born in Ukhan (Uchanie), Poland.  His surname at birth was Goldfarb.  He emigrated to Argentina in 1929.  He wrote children’s poetry for Di prese (The press) in Buenos Aires.  Among his books: Fun feld un vald (From the field and the forest) (Buenos Aires: Shul-biblyotek, 1978), 84 pp.; Heym un gortn (Home and garden), poems for children (Buenos Aires: Shul-biblyotek, 1980), 64 pp.  He also published one book in Spanish, Mi heym es mi jardin (My home is my garden) (1980), possibly a translation of Heym un gortn.  He died in Buenos Aires.
