YISROEL-HIRSH KLEYN (1887-August 17, 1943)
He was
born in Zhidik (Židikai), Lithuania, the brother of Nekhemye Kleyn. He came to Boston in 1903. At age eighteen he began studying at the Baron
Hirsch Agricultural School. In 1939 he
graduated as a doctor of veterinary science from the University of Pennsylvania. He published and edited the journal Heftn (Notebooks) in New York (1939), “dedicated
to village colonization in Woodbine,” New Jersey. He mostly wrote about cooperative agriculture. He published articles in Tsukunft (Future) in New York, Shikago
(Chicago), and Nyu-yorker vokhnblat
(New York weekly newspaper), among others.
He died in New York.
