SHMUEL-MORDEKHAI OSTROVSKI (SAMUEL MORDECAI OSTROVSKY)
He was born, it would appear, in Kiev. He was the author of satirical and rhymed books
on various communal topics, as well as about Yiddish writers. Among his books: Di rayze in oylem hatoye,
oder di nesie af yener velt (A voyage to the world of vanity, or a trip to
the next world) (Zhitomir, 1873; Warsaw, 1883), 72 pp.; Der maskeradin bal
(The masquerade ball) (Warsaw, 1884), 135 pp.; Khalef afn haldz (Knife
at the neck) (Warsaw, 1885).
