MOYSHE-DOVID KLIGSBERG (July 7, 1901-June 25, 1975)
He was
born in Warsaw. He studied in a state
school and later in a commercial school.
He was active in the Bund. He
taught in an evening school for young laborers.
He did research on the problems of the Jewish working youth. He made his way to the United States in 1941
and worked as a scholarly contributor to YIVO.
He wrote for: Yugnt-veker
(Youth alarm), Naye kultur (New
culture), Foroys (Onward) in Warsaw, Tsukunft (Future), and Yivo-bleter (Pages from YIVO). He edited Bernard Goldshteyn’s book, Tsvantsik yor in varshever bund (Twenty
years in the Warsaw Bund) (New York, 1960), 328 pp. From 1950 he served as editor of Yedies fun yivo (News from YIVO). He published a 100-page work entitled “Di
yidishe yugnt-bevegung in poyln tsvishn beyde velt-milkhomes” (The Jewish youth
movement in Poland between the two world wars) in Shtudyes vegn yidn in poyln, 1919-1939 (Studies of Jews in Poland,
1919-1939) (New York, 1974), pp. 137-228.
In book form: Yugnt psikhologye un
sotsyalistishe dertsiung (Youth psychology and social upbringing) (Warsaw:
Kultur-lige, 1938), 287 pp. He died in
New York.
