FROYM KLEYMAN (1898-1966)
He was
born in Tsheladz (Czeladź), Poland. He worked in tailoring in Sosnovits (Sosnowiec),
Lodz, and Katovits (Katowice). He was
active in “Tseire-Tsiyon”
(Young Zionists)-Labor Zionism. He was
their councilman in the Bendin (Będzin) Jewish community council and
city hall. He spent WWII in Soviet
Russia. He left for Israel in 1948. He published poetry and articles in: Bafrayung (Liberation) in Warsaw (1919),
Nayer folksblat (New people’s
newspaper), Gendanken (Thoughts), Vegn (Ways), and Shveln (Thresholds)—in Lodz; Velt-shpigl
(World mirror), Der strom (the
current), and Inzer hofinung (Our
hope) in Warsaw; Bendiner vokhnblat (Będzin weekly newspaper), Zaglembyer shlezishe tsaytung (Zagłębie Silesia newspaper),
and Yung zaglembye
(Young Zagłębie) (1936-1939, co-editor), among others. Several of his poems were published in Sefer susnovits (Volume for Sosnowiec)
(Tel Aviv, 1973). In book form: Gerangl, lider un poemen (Struggle,
poetry) (Sosnowiec, 1933), 60 pp. He
died in Kfar-Saba.
