ASHKENAZI (ISAAC ASCHKENASY)
He was a rabbi in New York.
He collected and adapted witticisms, jokes, and aphorisms which he
published in a volume entitled Oytsres fun yidishn humor (Treasury of Jewish
humor) (New York, 1929), part 1, 192 pp.
He was also the author of Di galerye fun unshterblekhe mener (The
gallery of immortal men)—from Abraham to Herzl—and of the religious works: Kibuts
galuyot (Ingathering of exiles) and Ha-golah ve-ha-geulah (The exile
and the redemption).
