SHAUL BADANES (1865-April 23, 1940)
Born in Vilna, he graduated from the teachers’ institute
there. He emigrated to the United States
with the first group of “Am olam” (The eternal people) in May 1882. He was the first graduate of the pedagogical
division (Teachers College) of Columbia University in New York. He was a teacher and author of pedagogical
writings. He published articles in Tsaytgayst
(Spirit of the times) in 1905 which were concerned with Jean-Jacques Rousseau.
