ELYE SHVEBER (b. 1887)
He was born
in Pshemishl (Przemyśl), Galicia. He graduated from Lemberg University with a
doctor of law degree. He was a cofounder
of the Jewish Socialist Party. He worked
as a journalist for Polish newspapers. He
began writing in Yiddish in 1907 as a contributor to Jewish social democratic
publications in Galicia. Around 1909 he
was editor of Der yudisher sotsyal-demokrat
(The Jewish social democrat). From time
to time he published in Tsayt-fragen
(Issues of the time) and Literarishe
monatshriften (Monthly literary writings).
