Y. PAYENSON

Y. PAYENSON (b. ca. 1891)

            He was born in Riga, Latvia.  He received a traditional Jewish education and studied at Yurev University in Russia.  He worked as a dentist.  Politically, he was a democratic community leader.  He gave speeches on Yiddish and general Jewish affairs.  He contributed, starting in 1934, to the supplement to Kovno’s Folksblat (People’s newspaper).
