During the Nazi occupation, the
years of WWII, she was confined in the Lodz ghetto. Her poem “Farvos” (Why?), composed after the “children’s
Aktion” in the Lodz ghetto, was published in the journal Pyonern froy (Pioneer woman) in New York (April 1946), and was
republished as well in Kidesh hashem
(Sanctification of the Name) (New York, 1948).
