M. BALBARER (b. c.1894)
Born in Bender, Bessarabia.
He studied in a religious elementary school and sang in a synagogue
choir with cantors, later becoming a cantor himself. He was the orchestral conductor of the Great
Synagogue in Galați. He published
articles and memoirs of life as a chorister and cantor in Shul un di
khazonim-velt (World of synagogue and cantors) (Warsaw, 1934-1937).
